WOLLONGONG (MECHANICAL/MECHATRONICS ENGINEER INTERNSHIP | REF AU47
Helpstage in WOLLONGONG (SOUTH SYDNEY)
You will work for a mechanical engineering company located about 1h30 drive south of Sydney.
You will gain experience in the following;
Understanding exposure to the various processes of manufacturing;
• CNC machining: application, limitations, method of programming, machining from a 3D model.
• Fabrication: various welding methods, minimisation of heat distortion, preparation for welding.
Gaining the understanding of these manufacturing process will aid the student ability to design for manufacture.
The students will then perform;
• The creation of 3D models to produce 2D drawings using Solidworks.
• Fabrication drawings: understanding the various welding symbols, understand of fabrication tolerances, requirement of stress relieving.
• Machining drawings: the application of machining and geometrical tolerances symbols.
You will have a design project where will perform stress analysis using FEA, and then verifying the results by hand calculation.
Gain experience using metrology equipment such as CMM – Co-ordinate Measuring Machine. You will realise the difficulties in machining to a fine tolerance when they converse with operators.
The internship is opened to all students from all backgrounds, within the Schools of Mechanical, Mechatronics and Bio Medical Engineering. Students with sound Solidworks experience to apply.
This is an unpaid internship. We do provide a student with their own computer and a paid up license of Solidworks.
